countdown to halloween

60 days until Halloween! Yes, we’re counting down here at Sassafras Farmhaunts.

We select our party theme the preceding year to give us a chance to shop post-holidays sales and gather inspiration throughout the year, but we begin preparing in earnest for Halloween during the month of July. Our July and August prep work is more leisurely. It’s a time to browse new merchandise, work on more labor-intensive decor projects, and compile our ideas in a spreadsheet to generate a list of materials and a timeline of execution. With our experience and existing library of decor, it really only takes us 30 days to build a party these days.

The less illustrious side of parties is the planning, but secretly, I might like organizing the event even more than the actual party (my introversion is showing). Each party has a spreadsheet consisting of tabs for guests, decorations, food, beverages, music, and activities. I enjoy ruminating on the possibilities and creating. The devil is in the details.
