REPURPOSED wine bottles REDUCE WASTE & illuminate a midnight soirÉe

Materials list:

Glass wine bottles

Matte black paint (we used a multi-surface chalkboard paint suitable for indoor/outdoor use)

Paint brushes

Wooden dowels

clear wine bottles on a black background — Step 1: Spend summer rosé season gathering ornately textured bottles. Remove any labels and adhesives from the bottles. Wash and dry.

wine bottles upside down on wooden dowels — Step 2: Working outside, insert wooden dowels in the ground to hold the bottles upside down. This step will make painting the entire bottle easier, but it is not necessary if you do not plan to paint the bottom of your bottles.

hands painting wine bottles black — Step 3: Use a paint brush to brush on paint. To make our bottles more multi-purpose, we used two coats of a multi-surface chalkboard paint that is dishwasher safe and weather-resistant once cured.

Set of wine bottles on a long table in the woods — Step 4: Heat the bottom of taper candles then insert into the neck of the bottle to ensure a secure fit. Always keep lit candles well attended.
